Entry-level Golf Twist revealed

Volkswagen has revealed details and pricing for a new entry-level Golf model that aims to offer added value and extra equipment as standard.

The Golf Twist, with prices starting at £12,995 on the road, is available in three and five-door models and is fitted with a 1.4-litre petrol engine and a six-speed manual transmission, with acceleration from zero to 62mph taking 13.9 seconds and a top speed of 107 mph.

This entry-level model "represents exceptional value for money", VW claimed, as it is fitted with £700 of additional equipment over the Golf S.

Such features include 16-inch Atlanta alloy wheels, MDI multimedia connectivity and a front centre armrest, while also inheriting other standard Golf features like ABC, an electronic stabilisation programme and seven airbags.

The marque added: "Volkswagen is also offering further ways to save money and added peace of mind on the Golf Twist, with competitive retail and finance offers."

Volkswagen has also revealed details for its class-leading Phaeton model this week, which will be available for £46,195 and above.
