Skoda hopes the new Tiptronic engine will make the entry-level Fabia more popular

Skoda has announced the addition of 16-valve Tiptronic engines for a variety of their entry-level vehicles, including the Roomster 1, Fabia 1 and Fabia Estate 1.

This particular type of engine is usually reserved for more expensive, high-end models and is popular with customers. Skoda have made the decision to include it in cars costing just £10,650 (the Fabia 1), hoping it will become even more appealing to buyers.

The lowest-priced model with a Tiptronic engine before this announcement was the Fabia 2, priced at £11,650.

"Following interest from various sectors of the market, we have decided to open up the 1.6-litre 16-valve (105bhp) Tiptronic engines in Roomster 1, Fabia 1 and Fabia Estate 1 for general sale," enthused Warren Richards, product marketing manager for the Fabia range.
