Citroen takes two gongs at What Diesel awards

Citroen has picked up two honours at this year's What Diesel awards, taking home the Best MPV accolade for the Grand C4 Picasso and the coveted title of Best Green Manufacturer.

The Grand C4 Picasso beat off competition from Ford's S-Max and the Mazda5 to clinch the Best MPV award. The judges singled out the vehicle's style, practicality, sophistication and build quality when making their decision.

"The C4 Grand Picasso epitomises all that anyone would need from an MPV. It's well equipped, priced keenly and offers some of the best diesel engines available anywhere in the marketplace," said Ian Robertson, editor of What Diesel.

In the new Best Green Manufacturer category, Citroen managed to hold off the challenge of a number of other companies. Citroen's extensive range of city, super-mini and family-sized cars with emissions less than 120g/km were the key reasons for its victory.

The panel also made note of Citroen's innovative concept cars, such as the C-Cactus, showcasing the French manufacturer's plans for environmentally friendly technology.

"Citroen has been at the forefront of eco-friendly motoring, offering a class leading number of low-emission vehicles," Mr Robertson continued.

"This is more important than ever in the wake of the recent announcement by the chancellor, reforming the Vehicle Excise Duty bandings."
