Suzuki Splash hits European market
Suzuki has released the new Splash mini-MPV to the European market.
The vehicle is just 3.7 meters in length, making it suitable for tight urban driving, but can comfortably seat five adults - with ample leg room and luggage space.
The Japanese manufacturer has sought to match a relatively sporty design with a tall form, as well as flared wings, a bold nose and a flowing roof line to create a "warm, endearing personality" for the vehicle.
Inside, silver trim elements are paired to a splash of added colour on the fascia, doors and seats - matching that of the exterior - in the form of turquoise, blue, or light grey.
The standard model has up 573 litres of luggage space - including a handy waterproof compartment beneath the boot floor - as well as cubbies and places to stash possessions dotted about the cabin.
Two spirited but highly economical engines are offered with the new Splash: Suzuki's 86 PS 1.2-litre petrol engine and a punchy 75 PS 1.3-litre turbo diesel - both built in Suzuki's new engine plant in India under licence from Fiat.
Both are linked to a quick-shifting five-speed manual transmission, with a four-speed automatic also available for the petrol model.
The petrol and diesel engines both offer cost-effective motoring, with combined fuel consumptions of 51.4 mpg (automatic 47.9 mpg) and 62.8 mpg respectively.
