The luxuriously appointed sixth generation Corvette delivers American supercar performance with a significant engine upgrade, its makers claim.

The 2008 C6 offers the choice of couple or convertible left-hand drive models, both with the 6.2 litre upgraded V8 engine.

Peak output levels of 437ps at 5,900rpm and 575Nm of torque at 4,600rpm are delivered by the LS3 engine, which is a 9.2 per cent improvement on the output levels of last year's model.

Buyers can also choose between a short-throw six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission.

Fitted with the automatic transmission, the C6 is capable of reaching a top speed of 186 mph and accelerating from zero to 60mph in just 4.4 seconds.

The driving experience is enhanced by a cutting-edge hydro-formed steel backbone chassis, a lightweight composite body and 51/49 per cent front/rear weight distribution to ensure optimum balance.

Inside, the cockpit features dual zone climate control, a programmable driver information centre and a seven-speaker audio system.
