Honda's global boom continues

Honda today announced its continued growth - with high demand and record sales for its automobiles and motorcycles across the world.

Last year Honda sold its products to 23.3 million customers worldwide - a figure three per cent up on 2006.

Global sales of automobiles rose six per cent to a record 3,767,000 - largely driven by increased demand in many of the emerging markets around the world, in particular China, South America and eastern Europe.

This was supported by a solid sales increase coming from the American market.

Five of the company's six global sales regions achieved record sales results.

China rose 31 per cent to 428,000 sales, while South America saw increases of 30 per cent to 117,000, Europe/Middle East/Africa went up by 23 per cent to 480,000, Asia/Oceania witnessed nine per cent growth to 343,000 and North America, Honda's largest market, grew by three per cent to 1,776,000.

Similarly sales of motorcycles rose seven per cent to a record 13.4 million, with high demand in Asia and South America.

Honda continues its position as the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer.
