Mercedes-Benz reveals new CLC
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a stand-alone model series in the guise of the new CLC, the compelling entry-level model in the Mercedes-Benz coupe family.
According to the company, the new sports coupe is aimed at young drivers looking for an athletic car that gives an involving drive.
It is also hoped the vehicle will deliver the hallmark Mercedes quality standards in terms of safety, comfort, environmental compatibility and functionality.
Over 1,100 components were designed or improved for the new CLC, including direct-steer system for more agile cornering, state-of-the-art 'infotainment' systems featuring a colour display and a Europe-wide DVD or hard-disc navigation system.
The car also features an upgraded four-cylinder engine that now develops 184hp and improved fuel consumption compared with the outgoing model.
As it is aimed at younger drivers, the car has 18-inch light alloy wheels wide-base tyres, headlamps with black inner surrounds, sports suspension with lowered body, leather sports steering wheel and dark brushed aluminium trim elements.
There are also four four-cylinder and two six-cylinder engines with power outputs ranging from 122hp to 272hp for the new CLC - with the car capable of 600 miles on a single 62 litre tank of petrol.
Six-speed manual transmission comes as standard with all engine variants.
