Land Rover wins two Queen's Awards

Land Rover has credited strong international sales and technical expertise as the main reasons for winning two Queen's Awards for Enterprise this year.

The company received the award for International Trade for increasing export sales by 52 per cent to nearly £4 billion a year - an increase of £1.3 billion in just three years.

Land Rover also garnered the award for Innovation for its patented Terrain Response System, available on all models (apart from Defender).

The system sets up the vehicle's engine response and traction to maximise performance on all surfaces.

"To win not one but two Queen's Awards is a considerable achievement and a testament to Land Rover's relevance and modernity in its 60th anniversary year," beamed Phil Popham, managing director.

"It demonstrates we are building and selling desirable and technically advanced cars around the world and generating significant wealth for Britain."

Sales for the first quarter of 2008 are 57,859, up 13 per cent on the same period in 2007. One of the major reasons for this is the growth of purchasing power in emerging markets, such as Russia and China.
