Updated Grand Cherokee launches this year
Jeep has announced a thorough revamp of its Grand Cherokee range for 2008, with a range of new exterior and interior features.
New soft-touch interior dashboard materials, interior colours and textures have been included to make the new range as desirable as possible. A tilt and telescope steering column, improved steering wheel and armrests for extra comfort, new instruments clusters and a floor console with improved cup holders are just a few of the features included in the revamp.
Limited and Overland models will be fitted with leather-wrapped parking brake handles, with the Overland also getting a new leather package on seats, doors and the dashboard, plus heated second row seats.
The exterior features a new front fascia and grille surround with a new body-colour front sill and air dam as standard. A new range of alloy wheels and improved headlamp design will also be included.
"Our new leather package helps create a sumptuous interior to cosset driver and passengers and offers everything that customers want from a luxury SUV without the excessive price tag," enthused Simon Elliott, managing director of Chrysler UK.
Mr Elliott also commented on the improved off-road features to be included as standard.
"If you think that all of these off-road gadgets never get used then think again. Driving up or down ice or snow-covered roads will be made safer with 4x4 and Hill Descent Control, while anyone who has ever towed anything in wet and slippery road conditions can appreciate the benefits of being able to control your speed down a steep hill."
In addition to the revamp on the existing range of Grand Cherokees, Jeep also announced the development of a whole new model, the S-Limited. The new vehicle includes all the refinements noted before, plus unique 18-inch alloy wheels, SRT body-coloured wire mesh front grille and body-coloured wing mirrors, rear spoiler and deep tint windows.
