Honda Accord reaches 30
The Honda Accord is celebrating 30 years since the first car went on sale in the UK market.
Some 15.8 million of the cars have been sold around the world since its launch, making it one of the most popular production vehicles of all time.
Initially launched in Japan and America, the Accord made its UK debut in 1977 - the same year Elvis died.
Seven generations on, the Accord has evolved into a significant corporate model equipped with the latest advanced technology, strong driving dynamics, an acclaimed diesel engine and a steadfast reputation for reliability.
A new version of the popular model is penciled in for release in 2008, with both tourer and saloon versions scheduled to appear at the Geneva motor show next month.
The car has been growing in popularity among corporate buyers, with 62 per cent of all Accord UK sales going to fleet users.
Corporate sales of the Accord were also up five per cent year-on-year in 2007.
"We have a growing customer base and the popularity of Accord has helped to drive this," said Harvey Hughes, manager corporate operations, Honda UK.
