Luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin has revealed the company's fastest ever road-car.

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage RS is essentially a reworked version of the V8 Vantage, taking out its 380-horsepower 4.3-litre V8 and replacing it with the company's 6.0-litre V-12.

Accordingly, the Vantage RS is capable of 0-62 in just four seconds, making it the fastest accelerating Aston to date.

Described as a "production feasible concept car focused on extreme performance and dynamics" by Aston Martin chief executive Dr Ulrich Bez during its unveiling at the company's new design centre, the car is destined for sale in 2009.

Both the bonnet and boot lids are made from carbon fibre to reduce weight, while carbon ceramic break discs are employed for maximum efficiency.

"Over the last five years, we have established a reputation for presenting fully functional, feasible concept cars, and the V12 Vantage RS is no exception.

"We will listen with interest to feedback on this concept and, as ever, if there is sufficient demand then we will seriously consider a low volume production run in the near future with a price that will reflect the exclusivity of the car," said Dr Bez.
