The Volvo XC60 concept car will make its UK debut next month.

The vehicle, which was originally unveiled as the Detroit Motor Show in January this year, will appear at the MPH Shows in Birmingham and London in November.

The first event will take place at Earls Court on November 1st - 4th, with a second show in at the Birmingham NEC on November 8th - 11th.

Both shows will be hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May - of Top Gear fame.

The Volvo XC60 concept is a crossover vehicle, matching the all wheel drive versatility of the Volvo XC with the sleek looks of a sports coupe.

The car has been developed to its present state by a team of 70 members of staff, including experts in milling techniques, lathe operators and sheet-metal workers to upholstery experts, technicians and engineers - in a record time of eight months.

It is hoped the new XC60 will highlight future design trends from Volvo.

The new car has expressive sculptured tail lights to highlight Volvo's broad, muscular shoulders and an enlarged version of the classic Volvo iron mark on the front grille - all of which will characterise future cars from the maker.

Volvo hopes to have the new product in showrooms by early 2009.
