The '93 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 DTM - with 38 wins holds the all-time record for victories in DTM - the 480bhp, 2.5-litre V6 engine probably helped
Here's a cracking video edit from the DTMEnthusiast channel on YouTube, all about the 1990s era of DTM racing (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft). Clearly a bit of a high-horsepower-heyday for our German friends, then.
I've watched countless British Touring Car races; always plenty of action and with the kind of cars we can all associate with. But, can you imagine if there was a bit of tweaking to the UK race rules, taking a leaf out of the Touring Cars rule books of old?
Now I know that motorsport has evolved and the cars must be cheaper and greener year-on-year, but what with mainstream automotive manufactures using small capacity turbocharged engines more and more, surely there's a bit more space for a big ol' blower or two.
Again, I know that the British Touring Car series are already using turbocharging applications for their Next Generation Touring Cars (NGTC) for 2011, and that's all good too. But, couldn't we just boost those turbo engines just a little bit more? 500bhp should do it. With fire-breathers like that racing you'd see me trackside for every round!
PS: Sorry about the German rock music, but at least it's not Hasselhoff, right!
