Look at this beauty - an absolutely mint mid-80s Ford Capri; resplendent in bright red. I had the pleasure of driving my own very similar Dagenham-delight; a 1987 Capri Laser, way back in the day.
My Capri (at least) looked the part, swathed in deep burgundy paint over those dashing muscle-car-lines, but under her stretched and bulging hood was a mere 1600ccs providing the 'power'. It wasn't fast, but the ladies certainly dug it. Or did they...?
Anyway, if you love a nice bit of nostalgia and think anything classic is cool, then I'm sure to be seeing you, and a whole lot of old 'n' bold beauties, down at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC, this November.
The Capri Club International will be showing five finely-fettled examples of Ford UK's most famous thoroughbred, ranging from a 1969 1600GT XLR through to a 1986 Injection Special, and I personally will be making a beeline for their stand, with my shirt suitably unbuttoned.
The Classic Motor Show is open from 10am until 7pm on Friday, 9.30am until 7pm on Saturday, and 9.30am until 5.30pm on Sunday. Ticket prices range from £17.50 when purchased in advance. For more information on the Classic Motor Show, visit www.necclassicmotorshow.com
