Concept, a reality

The new Peugeot 508 shares much of the concept car's good looks and sleek style. Huge wheels and chopped roofline didn't make the final production car, but we've always got the facelift to come!
So, we're just back from driving Peugeot's all-new full-size motorway cruiser; the 508. And it has to be said it's a very accomplished car and Peugeot are rightly proud of it.
And while it's mainly aimed at the fleet side of the market, its combination of keen price, good spec and wide range of modern engines could indeed gain the interest of big-Peugeot-fans who were waiting for something fresh, stylish and well-sorted from the famous French brand. And it looks like their wait is over.
In the flesh the car looks great, but I just can't help thinking how good it looks in the artist's sketch with those huge wheels and sliced roofline; a look that a decent bodyshop and aftermarket wheel manufacturer could quite easily achieve. Sure, you'd ruin the hard-earned dynamics with those mega rims and chopped glasshouse, but if anything is good enough to build it's this 508 concept.
Go on Peugeot; you know you want to!
