Blow the Budget

A large turbo recently. At today's prices you wouldn't want one of these on your Focus. This massive turbo flows enough air to produce 1500bhp. And with all that air comes a lot of fuel
So, looking at the figures, I guess us motorists got a bit of a reprieve today, right?
Chancellor George Osborne announced an immediate penny per litre drop in fuel duty in his Budget today. But at nearly 140p per litre, does that really make that much of a difference?
At least it’s going down rather than up…
Still, with Libya going through the roof, any reduction this week will probably be wiped out by a nervous-oil-market-linked increase next week. But, the inflation-related increase in fuel duty planned for April 2012 has been put on hold until 1st August 2012. Every little helps…
The Chancellor also confirmed that the much-rumoured ‘fuel price stabiliser’ would be introduced in the coming weeks to take the pressure off us punters as the dollar-per-barrel price consistently creeps up.
So, not particularly good times; motoring isn’t exactly getting cheaper, but for the time-being at least, we’ve had a stay of exorbitant-price-execution.
And in way of a celebration, here’s a particularly frugal, nitrous oxide-injected 16-litre, V8 Nissan Patrol indulging in a little sand dune-based motorsport. It’s eco-friendly because there are no trees in the desert. Don’t worry; he gets what he deserves in the end…
PS: Turn it up!
