Jaguar: a long, proud history
Jaguar has been synonymous with classic British motoring, refinement, power and performance for more than 80 years. While Jaguar may now be owned by the Indian industrial giant Tata, the car is still very much part of Coventry and Castle Bromwich.
The classic - and some say the most beautiful - Jaguar is without a doubt the E-Type, an icon not just for the automotive industry but also a UK cultural icon. Today, the brand continues the tradition with cars that are spectacular in design on the outside and luxuriously appointed on the inside.
For the new era, such badges as the XK, XJ and XF have lived on in their most powerful incarnations yet along with the latest generation of stunning design. Harking back to the days of the original straight six engine, the current line-up is not only potent under the hood but technically advanced.
There are now diesel engines as well as petrol engines for greater efficiency and one of the cat’s greatest innovations yet is the C-X75 Hybrid Supercar. Launched as a head-turning concept car in 2010, it has emissions of potentially less than 99g/km of CO2 and a top speed in excess of 200mph. It will be going into production with a limited run of 250 examples.
