Fiat
Fiat: Innovative Technologies
Fiat, the funky Italian brand has had a colourful history which dates back to 1899 and the dawn of European industrialism. The first factory opened in 1900 and since then, the brand has become best-known for economical, creative cars, truly coming into its own after the crisis of WWII with the launch of the four-seater 509.
In 1953 the first diesel Fiat, the 1400, was launched and in 1957, the New 500, a cute little compact car, started the long tradition of 500 models which continues to this day. Other models from the emergence period of the 1950s include the 1300, 1500 and 1800.
Today, the company is experiencing another revival in keeping with the UK market’s trend towards small, economical cars that are still stylish. The latest Fiat 500 is looking great and comes with such innovations as the TwinAir engine making it eco-friendly as well as a fashion statement.
Ever-reliable, the Panda and Punto are still making inroads into the hatchback market, with the Punto Evo versions appealing to hot hatch drivers. Keeping things practical, UK buyers are also enticed by models such as the Qubo and Doblo, while the new Bravo is the more refined choice for Fiat fans seeking something a little larger than the popular 500.
