Audi: Vorsprung durch Technik
Audi has been around for a long time with the German automaker celebrating 100 years of automotive excellence in 2009 with celebrations at Ingolstadt, home of the Audi factory. Over those years, the brand has achieved many successes in motorsport as well as in the manufacture of passenger cars. Le Mans in particular has been the scene of many Audi triumphs.
The brand’s motto, Vorsprung durch Technik is German for “progress through technology” and perhaps Audi’s most significant technical advance has been the quattro all-wheel drive system which offers superb handling and safety. An Audi quattro concept car was launched at last Paris Motor Show and it heralds a new era for Audi all-wheel drive vehicles.
Other cars of the future that Audi has already launched as concept cars include a sharp A1 clubsport quattro and the eco-friendly Audi e-tron hatch and e-tron Spyder.
The extensive Audi range on sale today in Britain includes the A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q3, Q5, Q7, TT, R8 and RS models. This premium range includes neat hatchbacks, a range of saloon and executive cars, SUVs in the Q line-up and powerful sports cars with the TT, R8 and RS models.
